06-03-05 Southern Kansas Chase - funnel surprise! Due to cloud cover and lack of daytime heating we didn't expect to see much around our target area of SW Kansas so we decided to head towards Wichita, KS to be in place for the next day. While traveling through Southern Kansas the cold core upper low came through creating an environment favorable for rotating cells. We saw several mini-supercell type storms this day with gorgeous wall clouds and one persistant, rapidly rotating funnel.
